Education is the third eye of a human being. Education has the power to develop not only the infrastructure of a nation but also every single aspect of the health, population and environment. Development, in short, points to positive growth or change. Every creature strives for growth and development, from the individual to society as a whole. In this regard, I ,as  the  Deputy Director of Education – Development , have the responsibility to make the students of our Batticaloa Zone to become a productive member of civilized society by acquiring all the necessary skills  to meet the challenges and obstacles and how to become an integrated  personality and maintain the perpetuation of our culture. The continuous evaluation of the teaching and learning process, frequent meetings regarding the analysis of the marks  with the principals, teachers, SDC members, parents and  students ,  capacity building programmes for the teachers and frequent visits to the schools are the tools of our Development Branch to succeed  in the process of our educational development of our zone. We continue to march steadily towards our aim to provide responsible citizens who will participate in nation building.
